Happy Monday folks!

Today I’m inspired by a post about Maryanne Moodie, an Australian based online vintage clothes seller. And when she’s not running her business, she’s creating these one-of-a-kind woven tapestries – a side project she picked up after the birth of her son Murray.

You can see more pictures and read up on her project on The Design Files!

When artists come together, the result can be amazing. Case in point? Node, a project initiated by Chris Haughton – a designer and illustrator of children’s books and Akshay Sthapit, who brought together 18 artists to create 18 hand-knotted rugs, handmade by traditional Nepalese carpet makers. The rug makers, Kumbeshwar, are founding members of Fair Trade Nepal. Employees are taught literacy and skills; and in addition to fair wages, their work supports a school of 260 children and an orphanage of nineteen.

Node launches tomorrow in the UK and it will be so exciting to see how this project will turn out!

For those who are interested in producing your own fair trade rug, you can check it out here.

Here’s the complete list of artists involved below, and you can check out all 18 rugs online at the Design Museum Shop:

Looking at these work in progress pictures from Lorena Marañón made me regret not buying one of her pieces earlier (I wrote about her here; but she’s shut down her Etsy shop!) She’s an embroidery artist based in the US, and from what I’ve been eyeing over at her Flickr stream, I’m excited to see her what’s to come – and if shutting down her online store means that she can focus on creating new designs, well, so be it.

Happy Monday folks!
