We’re coming on to part 3 of our all season gift guide, and for this issue, I’m going to touch on coloring books! I think that coloring books are fantastic for de-stressing, and also for those who are looking to add their magic touch to other people’s art. They’re great for kids and adults alike too – what’s not to like?
Volume 4 of the Doodlers Anonymous coloring book features the doodles and drawings of 60 artists from around the globe – some fresh novices, others seasoned veterans, all of whom share a love for the hand-drawn.

From Helena’s description:
Botania is my artistic journey into the things that inspire me the most: nature, trees, the four seasons, woodland animals, the whimsy and the make believe. It took me a year to ink all the pages, including over 150 animals plus insects lost in lush botany!
This very detailed and playful coloring book features lots of nature and animals in 26 pages – available right here.
From Kamala’s description:
The “Land of Shining Lakes” was inspired in part by the flora and fauna surrounding my home in the romantic Snoqualmie River valley, nestled into the foothills of the Cascades here in the Pacific Northwest, just outside of Seattle, WA. The beginning of the book, however, takes place in a desert land much like Morocco, where King Tilliman hides a dark secret from his three daughters. The story is complete with nymphs, a unicorn, monstrous sea creatures, rebellion, dreams, magical mischief and true love. I dedicate the book to my 11-year-old niece, but you will find it delightful at any age.
The book is 32-pages, a large format book printed on quality heavyweight cover stock (17″x11″ index) with a sturdy bend and finely textured matte surface perfect for crayons and colored pencils, and is available here.
From their description:
Colour Africa Proverbs is a colouring book of illustrated proverbs from all over Africa. The proverbs are words of wisdom that teach children universal truths in an engaging and interactive way. Respect, compassion and teamwork are central themes. Each of the 10 proverbs appears in its original home language, with an English translation and a picture, and each proverbs are explained at the back of the book.
From Melissa’s description:
This professionally printed 16-page coloring book includes my illustrations of 12 different bird species that can be found in the Indiana Dunes along Lake Michigan, along with some interesting facts about each bird. As part of a 2012-2013 grant from the Indiana Arts Council, I created a series of mixed media bird illustrations and decided to also create a coloring book to go with the project. A successful Kickstarter launch to get the initial print run followed, and now I have extras for sale here on Etsy! Great for bird enthusiasts and kids of all ages.
Available right here.
