Working Proof

Anna Corpron and Sean Auyeung, from one of my favourite blogs, Sub-Studio has just launched a new project called Working Proof, which seeks to promote art and social responsibility.

From their website:
Each print is paired with a charity of the artist’s choice, to which we are donating 15% of the sale of each print – creating what we believe to be a product with not just aesthetic, but social value. Besides showcasing emerging artists and great artwork, the intent of the Working Proof is to promote a variety of charities and to expose them to new supporters through the appreciation of art and creativity.

They will release a new print once a week, on Tuesdays at 1:30 pm, EST. First one up is one done by Samantha Hahn entitled Burden that features a woman bearing a heavy load, represented by chairs chained to her back. Chairs are really meant for resting in, yet she carries them — indicating a juxtaposition of roles, which suggests that sometimes it seems that we create our own burdens in life.

{Congratulations Anna & Sean!}

Giveaway #20: Good to Know zines set

Oh I know that Tuesday went and passed. And there wasn’t supposed to be a giveaway this week because I’m trying to finish up the second installment of the Etsy recap (the first one is here).

But then again I thought I shouldn’t let you all go off without at least a prospect of owning something lovely, so I’m putting up a giveaway for a complete set of Good to Know zines (yes, issues #1 through to #5!) to ONE lucky commenter.

Just comment on this post by 21st October and one of you will get a very hefty package of zines that’s chock full of advice + inspirations for creatives peeps! (If you already own some of the zines, then we can exchange them for future issues – I’m totally cool with that.)

UPDATE: Commenting has now closed, thanks for participating!

music monday

It’s Music Monday over on Twitter. A few weeks ago I asked if anyone wanted to have a playlist exchange, and yes, someone did! Clara Charoltte created a playlist for me. She took it one fun step further by creating artwork to coincide.

Music is personal, and so Clara made a little book about her own stories behind the songs. I thought that was the sweetest idea which meant I HAD to blog about it [plus it was a TON of hand drawn typography which makes me happy]. I just sent her a mix in return. I hope she likes it.

Send me a message on Twitter and I’ll make you a playlist!
