Fellow Pinterest friend Telma Baptista pinned the work of UK-based illustrator Sarah Maycock (via Handsome Frank) onto Pikaland’s Pinterest board recently and oh my, I’ve been looking at those brushstrokes over and over again just to see if I could re-trace her steps. While her strokes are wonderfully expressive and fluid; it belies how powerful it is – she’s great at bringing out the strongest feature of each character through each stroke.

Have a lovely weekend folks!

I get a kick out of picking out work patterns of the artists/illustrators that I see. If you look closely, everyone has a subject matter or a way of working that resonates in each of their piece – like these ones by Jon Han. A lot of his work is related to climbing, ladders, a cliff, etc – a lot of them has to do with height in some ways. Go ahead and have a look at his website – it has cool animations (like this one) which are loads of fun.

Happy Monday folks!

Today I’m inspired by a post about Maryanne Moodie, an Australian based online vintage clothes seller. And when she’s not running her business, she’s creating these one-of-a-kind woven tapestries – a side project she picked up after the birth of her son Murray.

You can see more pictures and read up on her project on The Design Files!
