Can you imagine these fantastic fun animal prints in your child’s room? If I had a kid, Melanie Mikecz’s shop is definitely the place to collect them! Melanie’s work is bright, pretty and bold, with generous use of color (which I totally love!)

Melanie specializes in digital mixed media techniques, and her process starts off like most artists — sketching, drawing, painting and scanning. And then comes Photoshopping, tweaking, and et voila, a new piece is produced!

The biggest difference is that Melanie doesn’t have any originals for sale, only prints. But if that’s what it takes, then I guess it’s a sacrifice worth making!

Mara Caffarone

Loving the work of Mara Caffarone, an artist based in Buenos Aires and is currently Little Paper Planes’ artist of the month. She has 5 exclusive prints up for sale over at LPP, and I am very interested in what she said about change in that her work is informed by what she is absorbing around her, and that the changes that are reflected in her work is a gradual shift – the ideas that underline her work is essentially the same, only the approach differs from one another.

How’s that for finding underlying patterns to create new things?

Have a great Monday!

Kim’s Little Monsters

I absolutely adore these wooden brooches from Kim’s Little Monster shop that I saw this morning over on the Etsy front page. Kim Welling is an artist and illustrator based in Netherlands and I am totally crushing on these portrait pins! I can totally imagine owning 7 of these (all with different portraits, of course!) each one for a different day of the week. Or maybe just 6, and then pin all 6 of them altogether for Sunday.

Oh yes.
