Ola bitches!

Carolyn Alexander has a smashing book out called A Book of Haughty Bitches that’s made only in a limited edition of 100. (You can see more sample pages here)

No, these buttons aren’t from the same collection as the Haughty Bitches book, but they are quite haughty in their own way too.

She also contributed her work to Third Drawer Down to made into tea towels (if you guessed Family Portraits, you’re spot on). And check out too her badges and stickers she released in conjunction with the book.

(Pssst, she is one of our participants for the PikaPackage Project in October too!)

The Rabbit Mayor

One of my absolute loves in the illustration genre is story-telling for both adults and kids alike. I have a stack of very old illustrated story books that was handed down to me by my cousins which I treasure till this very day.

I stumbled on Jon Klassen’s Burst of Beaden via Gallery Nucleus, and his prints first caught my eye. But my curiosity was piqued when I saw the Rabbit Mayor — a story he illustrated for Flight magazine, which was only half shown. So on a whim, I wrote him an email to request for the entire story and to profess my love of his works; and I woke up the next day with an email from him, and a link to the whole story — which you all can enjoy here. (It’s still not available yet on his site, so consider this an exclusive for now!) 😉

That just made my day!

Ogi Ryuichi

3-D art is a wonderful medium, especially when they are framed up just like any other art, and this one called Figure Study Series: Noam #17 by Ogi Ryuichi is incredibly interesting.

Excerpted from his website — “Born and raised in Tokyo, Ogi relocated to the Bay Area and received a BFA in Illustration from the California College of Arts & Crafts (CCAC) in 2004 only to realize that his passion is not in illustrating.”

I think that his work has lots of illustrative elements that’s also spread among his love of more tangible ingredients in the making of his art. His prints are also available for sale at Gallery Nucleus.
