Gizem Vural

I was reading EAT, PRAY, LOVE by Elizabeth Gilbert and in the book, Gilbert discusses with a friend how each city has it’s own word. Life could have its own word, and when the reality of the situation is not lined up with the word, changes need to occur. So, I started thinking how not only each city, but each month could have its own word. Then, because I’m an illustrator, how each month could be represented by its own visual. It is a reminder of how you want to be this month.

For me, this month, I chose my visual from Gizem Vural, a graphic design student from Istanbul. It’s been a rough April, and May is going to present just as many challenges. I need to be my own rock, a mountain that is firmly grounded, unwavering when stormy challenges hit. I also have to be tall enough to be light and airy, with my head in the clouds for creating art.

Gizem has more beautiful artwork here and on her blog Have a Cup of Tea with a Dreamer. What’s your image this month? If you don’t already have one, maybe Gizem has one for you.

With this post by Pikaland’s contributor Racheal Anilyse I’m going to go off for the weekend a little early this week — I’m feeling slightly under the weather, and with the weekend coming – I’ll be able to catch up on some R&R and see you all back on Monday.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
