PikaPackage: Susan Schwake

Henry, Lola and Syd, an original artwork

Susan Schwake needs very little introduction. She is one of the founders behind Artstream Studios — a gallery and art academy that dedicates itself in promoting the visual arts in downtown Rochester and on the web through exhibition of emerging and established artists, arts education, media and graphic design, and community partnerships. The works in her shop are originals — they’re small artworks and mixed media pieces, and are all one of a kind.

She sent in her beautiful original bird drawings — each one is unique — drawn on an 1883 German copy of Faust; mounted onto an acid free mat board.

PikaPackage: Rima Staines

Telling Stories to the Trees print

Rima Staines is a conjurer of one of the most fascinating illustration works I’ve ever seen. She weaves stories into her illustrations, and features beautiful lands of fancy and fantasy. Rima paints and draws on wood and paper; and enjoys entwining script and image closely and loves to write rhyming stories to tell her characters’ tales using forgotten words and other languages.

For the July PikaPackage, she sent in her beautifully illustrated creatures and fairytales, which you can see more of in her shop called The Hermitage.

PikaPackage: Hilary Wagstaff

Orchid, a limited edition digital print

Hilary Wagstaff is the artist, designer and printmaker behind Little Moshi, where her main interests are in drawing, print and collaged work both digital and the old-fashioned way. She also makes books and box art, as well as using monotype and transfer print to create images.

I love her hand-drawn illustrations that she sometimes incorporates into her mixed media pieces.

Hilary Wagstaff's mixed media loot

She sent in so many beautiful prints (including a handmade book) — from her illustrations to her collage pieces — that it’s almost impossible to show all of them in their glory. A visit to her shop will show you how lovely her work is, and our flickr stream will afford you more peeks.
