Brett Manning

Brett Manning is a Chicago based artist and illustrator who works mostly in ink and colored pencils. Her work is very detailed, as you can see from her sample works above — I love that she has a certain softness in her strokes (I’m not sure if I’m making any sense here!)

You can head over to her Etsy shop for prints and originals.

Carolina Espinosa

Anyone who writes “I am one of those weirdos who can almost cry in front of a nice font or a well designed poster” is someone I’d really like to get to know. So please become acquainted with Montreal based illustrator and graphic designer Carolina Espinosa. Her blog showcases her remarkable process of collaging images, prints, pen, and paint. I’ve only introduced you to a few sketchbook pieces, so imagine what getting to know more of her work would be like!

Good to Know #4: Goals & Successes!

Hello there and I hope you’re having a great start to the week!

We just launched the FOURTH issue of Good to Know with a topic on goals & success!

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

What goals have you set for your business? How do you measure success? How do you celebrate your successes?

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

And to celebrate, we’re holding a giveaway where 2 random winners will win a copy of the zine when they leave a comment at the blog: http://pikaland.com/2009/08/18/good-to-know-4-launch-giveaway. We’d love it if you could come along and spread the word! (You can purchase the issue in PDF or hardcopy directly from that page as well!)

We also just set up an option for a PDF subscription among other options for getting your fix, which you can see over here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5398864&section_id=6165686 (yay!)

Of course, the blog is looking lively with our summer giveaways as well, so tune in for lots more coming your way!

p/s — To avoid information overload, I’ll send a separate email about submissions for the fifth issue of the Good to Know zine in a few days. (you’ll want to chime in your thoughts on this one — it’s about whether you need a degree to be an artist!) 😉

Warmest,
x

Amy
