The edible poster

Anna Garforth

Maybe because it’s Friday, but boy am I in the mood for cookies. And of course, while cakes and pastries have been elevated to high society nibbles, cookies however hasn’t quite earned its stripes for being anything other than a quick munch — drowned with too much butter, with crumbs that leave evidence upon one’s ‘stache.

But tides are a changing, my friends. Experiments are underway to transform the lowly cookie into something of an art piece and lo and behold, it begins as the perfect poster! This piece here is by Anna Galforth and never has the expression “Eating your own words” sounded so sweet. Handmade? Check. Pretty? Check. Delicious? Absolutely.

IOU project

Fashion designer Kavita Parmar started a project called The IOU Project and with it came a huge challenge: to design and produce a line of totally unique clothing that would be cool and casual, but no matter how many people bought an item no two would ever be the same (just like an art piece!)

Said Kavita:
“The idea was to create easy classic pieces with a lot of beautifully made details. Of course, since each piece is unique it has its own QR code that takes you to the entire story of the product, the video/pictures of the artisan who made the fabric in India and the artisans who made the garment in Europe.”

The launch is the end of this month, but I’m thrilled to share with you some sneak peeks into their collection as you can see in the above pictures, and of course, a look at their video will unravel more information about the project!

Based in Canada, Japneet is the artist behind Story of a Seed — a treasure trove of watercolor works, each with their own narrative notes (as seen on her blog). Like images that belong in a children’s book, they’re rich in color, character and imagery – each of them treading the realm that would appeal to both kids and adults alike.
