Gabrielle Rose giveaway

We’re thrilled to bring you a giveaway this Tuesday, courtesy of San Francisco-based artist Gabrielle Rose – she’s the lady behind some of the loveliest watercolor and ink drawings that’s been floating out there online, and an opportunity to collect some of her work is not to be missed (need proof? Look at what happened last year when she held a giveaway here!

Gabrielle has put together a fantastic package of giclee prints – Girl with Key and Two Headed with Arrows along an 5 illustrated notecards bundled in a set that’s worth USD$53 in all!

To be in the running, just leave a comment on what’s your favorite medium for expressing yourself (or for those who aren’t making marks yet, what would you like to master?) — watercolor, acrylics, or just good old pencil? Share it with us!

We’ll hold a lucky draw when entries close next week Tuesday, 28th June!

In the meantime, see more of her work here:

This weekend, why not try collaborating with fellow illustrators for a change instead of going it alone? Alyssa Nasser (featured previously) started an illustration experiment where illustrators gather to swap sketches, which ultimately will culminate in a final artwork rendered by another. The sketch and the finished artwork is then featured on their blog, called Ten Paces and Draw.

Sketches are always drawn on Mondays, and the final artwork is posted on Friday. In between original artwork they feature works by other illustrators with artwork related to their weekly theme — and this week’s theme is Patterns, which is amazing!

So go on, flex those creative muscles and get busy!

Thanks for your patience while I get better — see you all next week! 🙂

Down for the count

Get well soon card by JulieAnna

I’ve been trying to hold it together for a few days now, but it’s official — I’m sick. My tummy hurts and so does the rest of my body, so it’s safe to say that the only place that I should be is in bed, and not in front of the computer! So while I take a day or two to recover, I’m leaving you with a couple of links to previous articles in case you’ve missed some of it (and boy do we have lots of exciting things happening here lately!):

  • For those of you who’s complained about not seeing my work around much, well, have a look at this collaboration I recently did!

I hope to be up and at ‘em as soon as possible, so in the meantime, stay strong and eat your greens — I’ll catch you back here in a few days!
