We covered Esther Coombs’ illustrated teacups a while back, and we’re happy to see that she’s illustrating on a much bigger canvas as well!
For London’s Fashion Week, Esther was asked to draw iconic London buildings on the walls, perspects and glass of Nicole Farhi’s boutique on Bond Street, so if you’re in the area do pop in for a treat (and maybe tell the manager of the shop how much you love them too!)
Anyone can take a photo these days. Camera? Check. Subject? Check. But you can take it one step further and be different. The answer? Custom illustrations! And since the field is a little niche, you’ll be happy to know that Yasmine Molavi is offering her services of custom watercolor portraits to those who appreciate a little something different to mark the occasion.

Pikaland contributor Jamie Shelman and partner Thomas Meyer (both Rhode Island School of Design graduates) are starting a new online course called this+this=that. The course aims to provide structured weekly assignments that will inspire the production of new work and hopefully build a more full bodied portfolio for all illustrators out there! This is a more extensive version of their weekly assignments found on their blog Small Expectations.
The duo comes up with the source materials and ideas, and you make the art. The course is great for anyone who seeks more direction or inspiration!
