Back when Racheal contributed articles to the blog, she had an eye and a soft spot for artists who used tea and coffee in their art. So when Drew Mosley sent me an email about his beautiful artwork from coffee and tea stains, it made me smile! He generously shares with us his process too:

I work on paper and wood panel and start by loosely pouring and staining with tea. Eventually an image or composition will grab me and off I go. Sometimes just the act of pouring will flood me brain with ideas of possible paintings and I cant keep up.

Drew splits his time between building timber frame barns and homes on Vancouver Island and painting in his kitchen/studio. He is also inspired by trees, highly patterned prints, mystical wonderment, fantasies, the unknown and of lost connection to nature.

I’m sure Racheal would approve! 🙂

  1. Very pretty… I like the derivation of the Matryoshka dolls… especially in the second work. Reminds me a bit of Katy Horan’s work, too, with all the patterning.
