Sponsor giveaway: Princeton Architectural Press

Princeton Architectural Press giveaway

As you all know, I’m a book-lover. I love everything about them –they’re beautiful, mysterious (I have this urge to get to the end of each book!) and most of all, that they have the ability to unlock my mind with a single flip of the page.

And that’s the reason I’m so excited about our giveaway this week – we’re going to give away not one, but TWO books this week, courtesy of Princeton Architectural Press!

Princeton Architectural Press is celebrating their 30th birthday this year and they’re one of my favorite publishers of architectural and design books, so I’m thrilled to have them on the blog today where they’re giving away one book each: Maps by Paula Scher and Typography Sketchbook by Steven Heller and Talarico Lita to two lucky winners!

Throwing your hat in the ring for the giveaway is dead simple: just comment on our post to let us know which book you’d like and why — we’ll pick out the winners after 13th December! Easy peasy!

*UPDATE: Commenting has now closed, thanks so much for participating. The winner of this giveaway is Carmen and Megan as chosen via random.org!

  2. would LOVE to have the Typography Sketchbook by Steven Heller and Talarico Lita. I just saw it (yesterday) for the first time and immediately added it to my wishlist. It is very inspiring to take a peek in a sketchbook to see how ideas start and what will become of them! Would be great to have this book! 🙂

  5. Oh, wow. Both of those books are awesome! I’m intrigued by maps old and new as well as those that can show places you thought you knew in very different ways. But I think I’m more partial to the typography. Or the maps. Or the typography. 🙂

  9. I would love the Typography book! I’ve been doing a lot of my own hand lettering and it would be great inspiration to see the work and methods of others. Not to mention I spend my days drifting through too many design blogs to count; it would be great to get my fix in a non-digital medium!

  10. I’d love the typography book. Steven Heller is a living legend. This is good inspiration for people to get away from the computer and back to hand-lettering.

  11. To be honest, I’ve had my eye on both of these books since they came out so I’d be delighted with either one. I LOVE Paula Scher’s map paintings but I’m also a fan of hand drawn type and looking at other people’s sketchbooks. But if you were forcing me to choose… I guess I’d pick Typo Graphy Sketch Books.

  16. Paula Scher’s Maps. I’m interested in the possibilities inherant in the schematic and abstract qualities of maps with the color and texture of fine art painting.

  19. My husband is an over-the-road trucker who travels across the US coast to coast. He uses his GPS now, but used to make use of maps and road atlas’. Even though he is well acquainted with well-traveled routes these days, he would enjoy the ‘Maps’ book by Paula Scher. I’d love to be able to give that to him as a Christmas present.

  20. My boyfriend reminds me a lot of a living gps. He loves to drive around all day, espacially on small roads. He is the total opposite of me because I get lost everywhere. But I do love anything creative so I believe the book ‘Maps’ will be a fun present for us both.

  29. MAPS! Nothing better than combining maps and fine typography.

Maps were the first info-graphics of sorts that people used to find their way around. If I do win, this would be the first giveaway I’ve ever won!

  30. My dad gave me copies of Uppercase & Lowercase when I was growing up and have always had an affinity for hand lettered type. I’ve studied it extensively and use it in my artwork all the time. If I wasn’t able to win the typography book I am going to have to pick up a third job to be able to afford it. Thank you for making a website dedicated to artists and illustrators of all types. I am inspired weekly by your posts!

  31. I would like the typography sketchbook. I am an illustration student,
I used to do oil paintings and ink drawings. But this semester, I met a lot of people from graphic design area, I realized how important it is to bring design to my work as an illustrator. And among all the directions, I am interested in typography most.
I think this book will be a great help.
