Jamie Shelman is a painter, artist, cat fancier, and cycling fanatic. She graduated from The Rhode Island School of Design in 2006 and currently lives with her husband Tom on a small island off the coast of Massachusetts called Martha’s Vineyard where she can still see the stars at night and cats run free! She loves minimal forms of expression that contain within them an ability to engage the viewer’s imagination without filling in all the blanks. She will be posting about new artists and great design here on Pikaland!

Aren’t these sculptures by Jessica Fortner amazing? They’re really interesting in a folksy kind of way (and sometimes in a morbid sort of way) that I can’t help but break into a subtle chuckle when I see them. She creates these 3D figurines and scenes using a variety of materials and then photographs them to create the final illustration.
Good news if you’re in Toronto, Canada as her dolls will be at C1 Art Space’s All Dolled Up show happening from May 1st- June 28th. You can also buy prints of her work over here and here’s her blog.
