Darren Gate’s illustrations are quirky and bold, especially his drawings of people. Though they’re mostly sketches of people that he has met at one time or another, I like how he put them out of context and drew from memory. I think that it would make for some fun experiments!
He’s a last year student at De Montfort University in Leicester, UK and I look forward to seeing more of his work!
Mixed media artist and illustrator Emma Block is currently studying at Middlesex University at UK, and I’m thoroughly enjoying her Flickr stream that documents her foray into illustration since 2007.
I love the fact that she experimented a lot with different styles before settling on her current style that incorporates mixed media. Her collages are fun and playful with a touch of lightness — you can grab some of her prints over at her Etsy shop!
