Based in Canada, Japneet is the artist behind Story of a Seed — a treasure trove of watercolor works, each with their own narrative notes (as seen on her blog). Like images that belong in a children’s book, they’re rich in color, character and imagery – each of them treading the realm that would appeal to both kids and adults alike.

Today is going to be one of those days where I’ll be covering one artists in what seems to be a very lengthy (image-wise anyway) post.

And the reason that I’m doing so today is because I am absolutely smitten with the work of Laura Carlin, an award-winning illustrator from the UK. She’s the illustrator behind the book The Iron Man, written by Ted Hughes which was released late last year (I could only find in the UK Amazon website, none in the US yet!) Her style is gorgeous – childlike yet structured, and I’m particularly drawn to her color palette as well.

And not only can she draw and paint on good old fashion paper — she’s doing it on ceramics as well! She’s currently making these gorgeous ceramic pieces that also become her canvas – each one is unique.

She’s represented by Heart Agency where you can see more of her illustrative works and portfolio. As for her ceramic pieces, you can see more of it over on her personal blog. A lot of them have been snapped up already, so you’d better keep a watchful eye on her blog if you’d like to be a collector.

IN LOVE with Brazilian artist Camila do Rosario’s Moleskine set. It’s a super-awesome-beautiful reminder to pick up my own neglected sketchbook. They are an artist’s best friend and I’ve definitely been avoiding a good long conversation on paper. My sketchbook knows all of my secrets and fears and loves me anyway.
