I’m a big fan of Heather Moore’s (aka Skinny Laminx) tea towels, and while I was at Cloud9 Fabrics, I was ecstatic to see that she now has her very own fabric collection!

I can’t wait to see more designers on Cloud9 Fabrics — I see that Julia Rothman is up next, and also Michéle Brummer-Everett (previously). Michelle Engel Bencsko is a personal hero of mine and I can foresee that Cloud9 will cause quite a ripple in the fabric industry!

Go ladies!

Michéle Brummer-Everett was born and raised just outside of Johannesburg in South Africa. She completed her studies at the The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, but moved out West a few months ago and has been spending all day working in her studio!

Michele on working in her studio, surrounded by mountains:
“Once I get working, time seems to go by very fast. I’ll just draw and draw and before I know it the day is over. I tend to get accidently “obsessed” with certain objects and themes. Most of my sketchbooks and papers are filled with much of the same thing. Right now I’m drawing loads of little animals in exercise gear. I have no idea what to do with them but I’ll figure it out a few months down the line…it always happens that way.”

And boy does she have lots to show for it too – she’s already done a children’s line for Cloud 9 fabrics (last image above)! I love her clean lines and whimsical style which makes for great characters for any kids’ line.

To keep up with her, head to her Tumblr for more updates!
