Stop the spill

The recent week of BP’s oil spill has captured the attention (and anguish) of many quarters – including artists. The oil spill not only harms wildlife and the ecosystem, but the long lasting impact of such a disaster will be detrimental to the livelihood of those who depend on the affected waterways. Here’s two ways you can help:

Julianna Swaney

Julianna Swaney of Oh My Cavalier is offering a limited edition print entitled Night Demons where a 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Audubon Society’s Oil Spill clean up effort.

Jen Corace

Tiny Showcase is offering a Jen Corace print entitled “Down, Down, Down” from June 8th till June 18th, where 50% of the proceeds will go to the Gulf Restoration Network (there’s a nifty counter to see the tally of the sales so far!)

dana bell

Dana Bell says so much in her paintings using very little elements. It’s an example of Gestalt Theory applied to art: the mind supplies the missing pieces in a composition. Bell trusts our intelligence enough to allow our minds fill in the blanks.

Check out Bell’s latest work which is influenced by films from Alfred Hitchcock, and the 50’s and 60’s. What more needs to be said, go check it out!
