David Shrigley: Brain Activity

David Shrigley makes everyone laugh, point and talk about his work all the time! I never visited an exhibition that touched and created joy in everyone, with all types of backgrounds, from kids to art critics.

There was this part of the exhibition that you could see a lot of very small sculptures of these characters that he created and then, right before them you could read: “Do not trespass or alarm will be activated”. Of course, some of the visitors trespassed – and the alarm rang!

On the side, some visitors were getting stuck, not finding the next room. The wall had a hole and everyone was supposed to be passing there.

I found this trailer below made by the southbank centre with an interview with David Shrigley:

And the pictures I found here and here (they didn’t allow me to take pictures).

Visiting the exhibition of one my favorite artists right in between two trips? It wasn’t luck, I think this time was fate! 😀 I happened to bump into a wall covered with his drawings on the day I went to see Cindy Sherman’s exhibition two months ago!

Journey

That game company is one of my favorite videogame studios. They always try to come up with ideas for games that make you feel things much more than using your coordination abilities – all mixed with an amazing art direction.

Journey is an interactive parable, an anonymous online adventure to experience a person’s life passage and their intersections with other’s.

Watch the trailer below, download it and enjoy the ride on your PS3! (You have one right? :P)

Keith Haring: 1978–1982

I had the opportunity to visit the exhibition of the early years of Keith Haring, one of the best-known American artists of the twentieth century at the Brooklyn Museum last week.

There you can visit the period where he moved to NY and started his studio practice. It’s amazing to see how crazy, young and full of energy he was.

He quickly became famous on the art scene and befriend very important people like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf, which became crucial for his art development.

My favorite part is that he wasn’t only an artist doing his own art. He was curating exhibitions and acting as a facilitator for other artists as well. There’s a whole wall covered with posters that he was making himself to promote these exhibitions – they’re all a piece of art too!

You can visit the exhibition until July 8th.
