Daria Tessler from Finland draws wonderful things. Her website is a quirky place to explore her art (all of which can be seen here and here.) Let me warn you, her illustrations are addictive and whimsical, so much that I can’t get enough of them and I stare for far too long (watch out for her colorful website backgrounds too, they just pull you right in.)

She also does installations, paper toys, handmade books, and animals heads. Yes. Fabric animal heads.

Luckily for us, she sells her silk screened prints and originals in her Etsy shop and is currently will be (thanks Katie!) having a show at Charmingwall gallery — watch out for their cool illustration-based Flash page. I’m not sure if they’re showing her animal heads though!

Kate Beaton does. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but everytime I see a new comic from this fantastically funny lady, I feel all giddy and happy. Better still if you’re into history, because that’s her forte.

Oh, have a gander at her about page, I guarantee it’ll crack you right up too.

Yes, I’ve posted her up at my other blog, but that doesn’t count. Especially when I think her comics about John Paul II is funny and sweet at the same time (I hope this isn’t offensive in any way!).

Find all her comics here and keep up with her journal here.

Some deathly spirits I have known

I just realized how spooky the title of this handmade book is by the lovely Katy Horan if it weren’t for its cute cover. The book has an accordian fold of silkscreened pages filled with deathly spirits (from her imagination, of course!) and is secured by a hard cover.

It’s a limited edition of 18 copies only, each lovingly handmade by Katy herself, so hurry and get yourself acquainted with some spirits!
