I think these portraits by Heather Buchanan of Heatherfuture is mighty fun! Apart from cute illustrated characters, she also sells original paintings like the last one, titled Martha which has a lot more character. Don’t believe me? Here’s part of her description:

Martha could have spent her entire youth roller skating. She’s a little too old for it now, but will occasionally wear a pair of white knee socks with two navy stripes at the top under her work clothes. This is the same pair of socks she wore the day she met a dashing young man on the path by the river.

I’m all for a little fearlessness today. Heck, make that EVERYDAY. Of course when someone tells me that something can’t be done — up to this point they would have already regretted uttering those words because my facial expression would have taken on a life of its own — I would respond with a WHAT NO WAY I’LL SHOW YOU.

And of course, don’t think that I don’t ever fall flat on my face, because I do. But the trying? Now that must be worth at least something!
