Rebecca of 10Answers sent me a link to an interview that they did with illustrator Micah Libberg and I am in love. A lot of his work is based on nature and I really like how he makes me look at things that I might take for granted (since I live in a tropical country) in a whole new way.

Read his interview over at 10Answers!

And here’s a little shout out for book and zine lovers: sometime this week I’ll be launching the giveaway for the Zine PikaPackage — do keep an eye out for it! 🙂

Oliver Lake

Oliver Lake is a UK based artist who has illustrated professionally for various clients and has also produced a few children’s books. What I love is how he renders his fun-loving animals, and I also am amused by the fact that some of them have eyes that seem to be staring at headlights! Who knew that strapping an accordion onto a bear would make so much sense?

You can shop for prints over in his Etsy shop and see his work in detail over on his portfolio website.

Splintered thoughts

Splintered thoughts

Matthew Plater, also known as Map Map, is an artist based in the UK. His resume should also clearly state that he is a maker of out-of-this world creatures and creator of characters that are whimsical as they are edgy. All his people are lovingly hand crafted from polymer clay and then brought to life with acrylic paint.

I think that his stuff are worthy to be made into a collection especially since he does an excellent job of balancing characters who (I think) belongs to a completely new category: cute, yet bizarre. His 2D work is also great as well, as seen from a couple of paintings above.

You can catch more of his work over on Flickr, and here’s a shop if you’re a collector of fun toys! And his blog is a fun read on others who share his aesthetics as well.

Happy Monday! 🙂
