Would you look at how time flies? If you think that the week just zips past, then weekends are just a blur over here. I hope you all had a lovely weekend, and I’m going to do a short review of the books that arrived in the mail last week if you don’t mind. (Yes, I’m painfully aware that I missed the Friday mark, AND the weekend personal extension!)
Ammo Magazine
Dave’s all about illustration and he’s the publisher behind Ammo Magazine that features fab illustrators around the world. The magazine is one of the smallest I’ve seen, but jam-packed with good stuff! It’s pocket sized so you can carry it anywhere, and a lovely layout to boot with generous sized text that won’t make you squint to read any of the interviews in there. Anke Weckmann’s illo is on the front cover this issue and ah, she never fails to make me swoon!

Mr. Spoqui
I recently featured the band of brothers who call themselves Mr. Spoqui and I just couldn’t help getting an issue of their family zine! It arrived in the mail, lovingly packaged by Amba (the eldest) and everything just melts my heart. The zine is in a bilingual format of Spanish and English, and starts off with individual introductions, complete with a self-portrait! The zine then moves on to various topics including Jazz, poems (my fave!) and then music, with illustrations to accompany each segment. I really wish that families out there can come up with their own household zine to share, keep and to hold for generations to come.

22 zine
22 zine is an online magazine produced by Adam Beneke of twenty2wo, which is also available for purchase as a hard-copy. Lucky for me, I got the one that I could get a grip on! The zine isn’t just about illustrators — there’s a good mix of disciplines and various media involved. In this issue I’m fascinated by the work of Jessica Tremp who uses animals in her photographs.
Right now Twenty2wo is on a break, but you always get a copy of their previous issues to keep, or you can also read them all online!
