Born in Bosnia & Hercegovina and currently living in San Francisco, Maja Ruznik work intrigues me. Her paintings predominantly focus on people’s faces. Blurred yet crisp, their eyes are piercingly cool and stoic – reflecting a certain helplessness; perhaps even a cry for help.
Some of her work is founded on her experience as a childhood refugee fleeing from a war-torn country. Her romantic notions soon ended after she went back for a visit 17 years later to a country devastated by the war.

Love the creepy coolness of these.
Wowzers. Powerful, beautiful, scary and pretty all at once. These are amazing!
Im completely taken back. I don’t think Ive been this impressed or inspired in a very long time.
Great work love it
