Jacqueline Wagner

I’d like to think of Jacqueline Wagner’s work as 3D collages. Originally from Germany, she’s now based in the UK after studying illustration there and is currently working as a freelance designer. She specializes in bringing hand-crafted illustrations to life by creating smale-scale sets in a variety of materials; which she then photographs to create an amazing interplay of shape and form.

Read about her process on her blog, and see her Etsy shop for brooches and necklaces modeled after her *ahem* models.

Many Hands: The Olympic Collection 2012

Many Hands is a new UK online shop started up by Adam and Ciara selling prints and other lovelies from current artists and illustrators (many of whom are Pikaland favorites!)

They’ve recently unveiled a new collection that coincides with the 2012 Olympics, where you can snatch up some fine wares. The range showcases talent from the likes of Many Hands regulars Owen Gildersleeve, Lizzy Stewart and Ciara Phelan, together with Peepshow’s Jenny Bowers and Spencer Wilson, Ben Javens, Lesley Barnes, James Dawe, Crayonfire, Sam Brewster, Damien Weighill and many more.

And get this – they’re also giving away prizes to a luckily selection of customers every time Team Great Britain wins gold!

How to paint a self portrait

Good points to ponder by artist Kristopher Kotcher on how to paint a self-portrait, in a collaborative effort with Join the Studio, an art and music collective.

From the project:

The entire concept was developed by Kris (aka Frenemy Life) around a paper-mache monster mask he put together. After he had created a character of sorts, he began taking his creation to the streets. Eventually, the concept of the monster becoming an artist inspired Kris to pursue the idea of showcasing a monster drawing himself a self-portrait after a day of getting to know himself through a variety of shenanigans.

Thanks Amanda!

Happy Monday folks!
