Penguin threads: Jillian Tamaki

Jillian Tamaki

From Penguin Threads comes a collection of classics, all embroidered to the hilt. The below are covers done by Jillian Tamaki and they are absolutely exquisite. These will be sculptural-embossed and are full wraparound images with french flaps (you can click here to go to Jillian’s site for images that can be enlarged). Black Beauty even won a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators in 2012!

You can purchase these over at Amazon, and another artist’s work that will soon grace the covers of the collection include Rachell Sumpter.

For some reason all of my copies of Black Beauty from my childhood are no longer around-I might just have to replace it with this version. Beautiful!!!

Saw these at the book store not too long ago and definitely fell in love with them. I’m trying very hard to not become a book hoarder, but these are so tempting. She did such a great job on their design.

Yes! I saw one of these at a Borders a few months ago and my mouth dropped open and I slowed inched towards it thinking it was just some seriously skilled photoshop texture work. But no! Amazing stuff. Talk about book art <3 Love it!
