I read each and every comment here on Pikaland, and I make it a point to visit the sites of my commenters — although I may not respond directly to your comments! Eyedrool was one — he left me a comment in early September. A quick hop over to his website one day and I’m mesmerized by his line drawings. It’s amazing how he produces almost optical-illusion based drawings that seem different each time you look at them.

It says that he’s currently studying at Manchester Metropolitan University for a postgraduate degree in the field of Design & Art Direction; and that he illustrated the cover (and insides) of one Flux Magazine. Other than that though, I don’t really know much about him because he stopped posting on his blog since last year. I wish he’d continue to post because his work is too beautiful to be kept in the dark!

  5. Dear Amy
Thank you for posting about my work, I was a bit shocked to see it but secretly dead chuffed and flattered.
I thought that I would update you as to why I have not been posting work.
I have worked as a designer/illustrator for over 24 years and last year I graduated from Manchester Met with my MA. What the course did for me was allow me to allow myself to change in every way possible. I used to work in a very financial way and chase an income rather than enjoy drawing with a purpose. What happened was that my detailed roughs that I used to produce for clients to approve I used to totally ignore them and discard them. With this in mind I switched the process and that is where the detailed drawings have evolved from. The course work I produced wasn’t of any interest to me in the end but the newly learnt research methods and strategies of inquiry have enthused me to such a degree. The result of this is that when I qualified I was offered a job as the course leader for the communication design course at the University of Huddersfield and I now run the courses in Illustration, Graphic Design and Advertising this is why I have not been posting as I have the care of 400 students, not just this I have equally been researching the subject of Illustration been a critical tool in Sir Francis Drake’s circumnavigation of the world and this is the starting point for my studies towards my PHD that begins this January. This has involved a full year of reading and is only just starting to ferment in my brain and is starting to emerge through a sketch book approach at the moment. I hope this explains why I have not been posting, I have been busy and hope to have new work to show soon. Thanks for reading this and for being interested in my work.
    Beat regards
    Brent

Amazing work.. love Brent’s precision. Reminds me of when I was a young girl and very bored at church; took a black pen to any paper I could find and tried to make shapes filled with the tiniest details.

Of course, Brent’s work is much more fetching and intricate than mine ever was. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!
