Etsy Success: Photographing 2D Artwork

Etsy Success

Today over on Etsy’s blog The Storque is an article by Pikaland contributor and Bootcamp instructor Jamie Shelman on Photographing 2D Artwork — she has a lot of great tips for those who are selling their artwork, so be sure not to miss it!

The article is merely a snippet of what goes on behind the scenes in our class How to Survive & Thrive as an Artist Online that starts in October! Spaces are limited but still available, so if you’re looking for that kick in the pants you desperately need — now’s the time to sign up!

Pencil Pop: Invites

Samantha Lewis sent me a link to her blog, Pencil Pop and I saw that she illustrated and drew up fun hand-letterings for her friends’ wedding invites! Love her quirky, fresh spin on this. I’m planning for my own small wedding party next year (fingers crossed!) and top of the list would be invites that are fun, offbeat and illustrated, of course! 🙂

Daily Drop Cap

One of things I wish I saw more of on the web was the use of drop caps in articles — just like those you see in magazines (read the Wikipedia entry to see different usages of initials in articles). I liken drop caps to an opening act of a show — decorative in nature and lovely to look at, it captivates and draws you into the rest of the page.

Well I think my wish did come true, thanks to the Daily Drop Cap. Imagine the possibilities! Blog posts no longer need to be boring in nature when you use one of these lovely drop caps. Think fun, colors and pizzazz when you are writing up that next article, and you have Jessica Hische, a typographer and illustrator (whose work was on Ammo magazine — see previously) to thank for spicing up your screen.
