Jenny Mendes’ ceramic sculptures are characters unto themselves – one look at them and you can almost picture them talking and coming to life (like on the telly!) She’s a full time artist based in Ohio, and she offers giclee prints for sale in her Etsy shop that are prints of her original terra sigillata painting on a clay tile. She’ll return in February with more ceramic works, so until then you can see a collection of her wall birds here.

So much fun and hairy creatures in Madrid-based illustrator Ricardo Cavalo’s flickr stream. He seems to be focusing on lycanthrope creatures for now, but a look into his collections and sets reveal a playful illustrator who sees the lighter side of everything.
This image by Stefano Maccarelli got me wondering-do you think there is a divide between old school artists (think canvas and paintbrush) vs. new school artists (Wacom tablet lovers)? Is it possible to blend old school techniques and methods with new school technologies? Should we blend them? Will this blend increase the value of art?
