Printing primer

One of my dearest friends, Junkyard Sam posted up a wonderful post that basically covers everything you need to know to fully set up your digital art studio. If you wanted to get a printer (he leans more towards HP) or would like to know more about the variety of inks out there, and the whole printmaking shebang, then his post is a godsend — especially if you’re into digital printing.

I am looking for a printer myself to finally be able to sell my own digital prints(!) and although I’m leaning towards getting a HP Photosmart because I love the fact that HP nozzles are directly on the cartridges, I’m frazzled by what certain sales people has told me. It’s a battle between the HP D5460 and the D7260 for me, mainly because the D9180 is out of my price range at the moment.

If you have any tips on printers, it would be great to hear it — even if it isn’t a HP!

Pin Pals

Samantha Purdy and Sara Guindon run not one, but two etsy shops between them. Sam works with vintage textiles and cross stitches her own designs on to handmade brooches and earrings. Sara is an illustrator and designs paper toys and T-shirts. One of their shops, Pin Pals has this wonderful flip book, a concept which I love — in addition to screenprinted tees and totes!

Their other shop MaudStitch specializes in cross-stitch jewelry including pins, earrings, pendants and buttons — like the one you see here. Read more about the two at their blog!

March postponement

Hi everyone!

I hope the new year has brought lots of joy and most importantly FUN — at least for the beginning of the year!

I’m dropping by to announce that I will be pushing the next PikaPackage Project to March instead of February while gathering some feedback from past participants and also buyers. This would help me gather information and feedback so that I can make changes to make it all better, so I hope you all won’t mind the postponement!

I lost all my past emails and notes when my hard disk crashed, which was why not many heard from me this past few weeks – my apologies!

I may inadvertently miss some of you as my list of artists are getting longer, so If you’d like to help me facilitate the selection process (yes, even those who have participated before), please reply to this email with the subject line “MARCH YAY!” and I’ll contact you once I’ve made the selection.

Just so you can plan your schedules, you should mail out your package by end of January as your package needs to physically reach me by 15th FEBRUARY.

Here’s to a roaring 2009 and thank you for all your support!

xo
