Jim Houser interview at Fecalface

I just discovered the work of Jim Houser via Fecal Face’s interview, and I think he is rad. Here’s an excerpt:

I went to Penn on a faculty/staff scholarship, and because my father worked there, it was free. I was miserable there. I hadn’t really wanted to go to college. I just went because I was supposed to. And I felt really lonely there, and guilty too, for wasting this insane opportunity for an education I didn’t really want, but that others would give anything for. So I did what I guess at least a third of depressed, isolated, college kids do. I did a ton of drugs and got myself kicked out.

Read the entire interview here:, and you can see a lot more photographs of his work on the page too.

What a wall!

Hurricane Rita left a trail of destruction in Havana, but it’s a ripe environment for Escif’s ideas. Nothing can bring art down!

Art doesn’t necessarily need a studio — look at Escif’s photostream, and you’ll see.

And the walls of this building were designed and painted by the Happy Wall Maker — how apt! (You can see more of his process and his elaboration in French over at his Flickr.)
