Journey

That game company is one of my favorite videogame studios. They always try to come up with ideas for games that make you feel things much more than using your coordination abilities – all mixed with an amazing art direction.

Journey is an interactive parable, an anonymous online adventure to experience a person’s life passage and their intersections with other’s.

Watch the trailer below, download it and enjoy the ride on your PS3! (You have one right? :P)

Keith Haring: 1978–1982

I had the opportunity to visit the exhibition of the early years of Keith Haring, one of the best-known American artists of the twentieth century at the Brooklyn Museum last week.

There you can visit the period where he moved to NY and started his studio practice. It’s amazing to see how crazy, young and full of energy he was.

He quickly became famous on the art scene and befriend very important people like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf, which became crucial for his art development.

My favorite part is that he wasn’t only an artist doing his own art. He was curating exhibitions and acting as a facilitator for other artists as well. There’s a whole wall covered with posters that he was making himself to promote these exhibitions – they’re all a piece of art too!

You can visit the exhibition until July 8th.

Cindy Sherman: the power of stereotypes as transmitters of cultural clichés

This is a must see exhibition if you’re in NY now. Cindy Sherman is a photographer from the 1970’s that is considered one of the most influential artists working today.

Film Still 16 – 1978

She explores the contemporary identity to create her characters, from publicity pictures made in the 60’s by Hollywood to portraits taken from the point of view of old womans, reacting to a youth- and status-obsessed culture.

Untitled #476 – 2008

Untitled #466 – 2008

Its also very interesting to know that she does all the work by herself, the make up, the creation of the characters, the photography itself, all on her studio.

Untitled #276 – 1993

What calls my attention the most about her is that she puts the critiques in your face in a very smart and provocative way. There’s no way you can go to this exhibition and don’t react from it.

Untitled #415 – 2004

Untitled #396 – 2000

If you’re not in New York, don’t worry. You can see the entire collection on MoMA’s website too (thank you MoMA!).

And to finish convincing you to go see more of her work, check this stop motion animation she did – I LOVE it!
