Braids

If you’ve been following my blog Small Expectations recently you may have noticed my current fondness for braids. I’ve been collecting images from across flickr (view my current braids gallery here) and have selected a few illustrated braids to share above! I don’t know if it’s the texture, the cultural implications, or the pleasant memories of childhood they call to mind but I’m enamoured and declaring this summer the Summer of Braids!

An added look of innocence couldn’t hurt!)

I love the mug. Braids could make a fun handle on a carrier bag! :)

Jamie,
I’m loving the braids everywhere, too! When I visited the art museum last week for the Picasso/Degas show, I realized how many famous paintings deal with the act of hair brushing ( a lot! ) and I was just telling my hubby that braids
( disembodied or not ) must be the contemporary version of this theme!
